What can I do to help?
Petition to Court *Important*
If you receive a "Petition to Court" in the mail, this means that a homeowner/developer is trying to discharge the Statutory Building Scheme ("SBS") from title to their property, effectively invalidating it. The respondent only has 21 days to respond to the petition. Please contact us immediately as legal action must be taken quickly.
Land Assemblers
If a land assembler, realtor, investor, or developer comes knocking on your door, record the date and time of their visit, write down their name and contact information and make notes about what was discussed. Make them aware of the SBS in place that prevents the development of multiplexes and apartment buildings in our neighbourhood.
Home being Demolished
If a home is being demolished, inquire with the owner/developer about their development plans. If they are not willing to share their plans or if their proposed development contravenes the SBS, please email us immediately as we will need to determine if further action is required.
House for Sale
If a home being listed for sale, note the address of the property and the contact information for the realtor (phone number and email address) and email us this information.
House is Sold
If a home has been sold, note the address of the property and the contact information for the buyer agent (phone number and email address) and email us this information.
Private Sale - Off-Market
If you believe that a homeowner has negotiated a private sale with a land assembler or developer, note the address of the property and email us your concerns.
Lawn Signs
Please help us spread the word and make everyone in our neighbourhood aware of what's happening. If you haven't already done so, please email us to order your lawn sign today. At your option, we are asking for a small donation of $15.00 to help cover the cost of the signs.
If you have a sign that has not weathered the Atmospheric River well and is looking worse for wear, please email us your name and address, and will have arrange to have your sign replaced.
Please email us to find out more about how you can help protect our community.
