The Amazing Brentwood is a massive re-development project by Shape Properties situated on 28 acres in Brentwood Town Centre consisting of 60+ storey residential towers, restaurants and retail shops and services.

• Original Plan in 2012:

  • Public consultation held and residents were supportive 

  • City of Burnaby approved Shape's plan:

    • 13 towers

    • Maximum height of towers of 60 stories

    • Tallest towers located closest to Brentwood Skytrain station

    • Density decreased from towers to townhouses as a gentle transition to the adjacent Brentwood Park single-family houses neighbourhood

 

• Proposed Plan in 2023:

  • City of Burnaby invited Shape to update its 2012 Plan to accommodate non-market rental housing in accordance with its 2020 Rental Use Zoning Policy

  • Shape proposed:

    • 2 additional towers for a total of 15 towers

    • Building heights increased from 60 to 80 stories 

    • Tallest tower (80-storey) location changed to the centre of the site (old Mall) where the elevation is higher

    • Townhouses proposed in the 2012 plan have been replaced with 4 x 60 storey towers connected to 8-storey mid-rise apartments adjacent to Brentwood Park single-family homes

  • New 60-storey towers will be located at the highest elevation of the site, leaving homes in shadows for most of the day
